Wizard101 Best Pets and Training

Updated: Dec 5, 2019

Wizards want the best Wizard101 Pet right? Here's what's known about getting the Best W101 Pet & Stats.

1. There're Pets & then there're Better Pets. Some provide no Cards at all, while others contribute up to 6 Cards in addition to the Stats we unlock at each Level of Training. The ones with 3 Spells are considered the best, who wouldn't want 3 cool Cards on a Pet with great Stats? That a Pet gives a Card is the thing used to determine if the Pet is a Normal Pet, an Average Pet or an Excellent Pet. Stats of course are just as important, but which Pet you put those Stats onto is where most people start. Something one should be aware of when choosing a Pet is does one want one for their School or one from another School, the 2nd type is called a Hybrid.

There're a rare number of pets available that just give 1/2 Spell, however they are considered Excellent because the Spell is solely available from them. Such a pet as the Brown Spider comes with a 3 Pip Giant Spider Hit Card which applies a 25% Life Damage Field to the Battle. Brown Recluse Spider gives 2 copies. Brown Spider Treasure Cards are relatively rare forcing most Life Wizards to include them in TC Deck in only the most necessary circumstances. We will not list other single Spell Pets here. Finding them may depend on your desire for a rare spell. Try Googling, "spell name w101" the Wiki will show you if any Pets have the Spell you're seeking.

2. Hatching is not free. You will require considerable amounts of Gold to Hatch a few times. If you were working with a new Pet and not a Mega/Ultra Pet, you will have only unlocked Adult traits and that means it's possible you get any of the Pets unlocked Traits in the Baby. You may have received a few good Traits and then on the final Trait got slapped with something totally counter to your preference. Dislike saying it but perfect Pets are not always a sure thing. So if you need Gold to Hatch again, consider going to Halfang, or Gardening a couple of full sized Gardens of King Parsley, 64 plants, 32 fit in the Max Size Spell. These are good for Amber(For Crafting Spells) 1st, Pets Snacks 2nd(which you sell to fill your bank) and finally Feints. For more on this, see Our Tickle on Gardening.(not written yet)

The HatchMaking Kiosk where you can Browse, Offer or Manage Offered Pets
The New Search for Talents page in the Hatching Kiosk

3. To get the Pet you're looking for you'll need to have a Pet in Inventory to bring to Adult and use as a Parent in a Hatch. Level up the Pet to Adult using medium Snacks(10-15 Points) or whatever you've got, and then head over to the Pet Kiosk and click Browse. From there you want to choose the School and go through the List until finding the desired Pet. Clicking Browse By Type once there and then paging left or right until you find the Stats you prefer. Then Hatch. (If Stats you want aren't available see Step 6)

You will receive an Egg which will either hatch in about 4 minutes or not until tomorrow. When you get the Egg you can determine if a Hatch is successful by checking what the Pets Page in Backpack says you receive for first Card. This doesn't always work if the Pet you have and the Pet you want both have Similar first Cards. (Not a successful Hatch, see step 5)

4. OK successful Hatch what next? Training! And Snacks! First, where to get snacks, because the Bazaar sells only 10 Point and under ones. The best Plants to grow for Mega Snacks are Couch Potatoes and Evil Magma Peas. These can be Farmed. Second, this presents us with a number of Mini Games to play, the simple route through this maze is the Cannon Game and you heard it, the Maze Game. The Cannon Game because it is the Quickest Game to play and the Maze Game because most Mega Snacks don't Level up Intelligence. Pick the Apple in the Maze for 4 Intelligence.

5. So you've Hatched and didn't get the Pet you wanted but instead got another copy of the Pet you already had. This is called a Failed Hatch. The trick here is not to get discouraged. You are getting closer, this new pet does have some of the Stats from the other Parent. You now have to discard the old pet and take this new Baby to Adult. And Repeat the process of Hatching with the same Parent. Eventually this process gets success. Often immediately. You may find that the Parent you were Hatching with is no longer in the Kiosk. It may or may not reappear eventually so your option is to find another Parent with similar Stats or wait and hope the Wizard who put that Pet there does so again. A way to get around this is to find someone with the Pet you are seeking and Hatch manually with them as many times as it takes.

6. If you have the Pet you are looking for and the only problem is that the Stats you wanted were not available on any of the ones you had to Hatch with, then, you will need to take the Pet to Adult, go to the Kiosk, find any pet that has the Stats you want and Hatch with it. The hope here is to keep the same pet in the Hatch but gain the Stats from the other parent.

7. When to train? Well sometimes you have no choice, you Train because the Double Days are over and the Pet is close to Level, but for the most part, Train on Double Pet Experience Days. Garden your snacks and faithfully wait until the time is right and you'll be able to Accomplish Mega in a couple of Days.
